"I would just like to thank everyone involved with The Yoga
Learning Center. This is a fabulous resource and a blessing to
myself, and many others I am sure. I am just beginning Yoga and
I think that having a studio come to you, in the privacy of your
own home, especially as a novice, is invaluable. Thank you so
much for sharing your information and your wisdom with the world
in this manner. May you all be blessed.

Dear All, I am 4 months pregnant and have placenta previa, i.e placenta blocking the cervix, Is there any form of yoga or asana to move the placenta sidewards or upwards, The doctor told that the placenta may move to side or may not. I strongly hope there should be a posture to move the placenta away from cervix. Thanks for your reply.. |

Congratulations! It can be during this wonderful stage of your life, and your baby’s life, that you become MASTER of your breath (if you haven’t already!). Like a flower to the sun, the placenta WANTS to migrate upward - toward the rich blood supply in the upper part of the uterus. A devoted practice of breathing techniques will be your best friend and guide here. It would be helpful to know if or how long you’ve maintained a regular yoga practice prior to your pregnancy. You (particularly) and your obstetrician carry the most valuable knowledge about your over-all health and history. Due to your current circumstance, continue to be ultra-aware of ANY spotting. Your body is graciously telling you to rest, relax and fill your entire being with smooth, calm, deep breath. If you begin to bleed – your body is loudly commanding that you stop particular activity ... and call your doctor and/or mid-wife immediately. Knowing these precautions, here are two postures that can assist in nourishing you and yours: Wide-Angle Child’s Pose ~ Kneel and open your knees approx. 18”. Have plenty of pillows for use under your tummy, front of shoulders and/or forehead as you bow forward and slide your arms along your sides, palms up. Direct your breath to massage and relax your back, hips and kidneys, especially. Squat Often! ~ Externally rotate the hips and slide down a wall with a nice, straight spine. Feed your calves, strengthen your ankles, nourish your lymphatic system along the way. You may not need a wall for support, so practice balance. Either way, gently draw in and up on your sphincter and anal muscles (inhale) and release (exhale). Do this as long as you COMFORTABLY can -- without straining. Enjoy reading the articles on BREATH found on this site. The YLC also features several excellent Pre-Natal practices. Remember, with each loving inhalation you take, you are encouraging migration of your placenta toward a higher place! Actively use your mind's imagination and UPlifted feelings with all of your heart and hope! Write back ANY time. Namaste, Jeneveve Satya YLC Forum Advisor |
