"I came across this site last week and joined on the second
day after seeing it. I love the exposure to different teachers
and levels. I am not new to yoga, but am new to practicing daily.
Without your site, I could not (would not) practice daily. Thank
you, thank you, thank you. " - Molly, CA

Jeneveve, About 2 months ago I did not have a bowel movement for 2 days. For about a week I only disposed of little, pebble-size poops. Since then, I have looked pregnant. I am not pregnant. After about 2 weeks of this annoying problem I ordered the Colonix program, an herbal system, offline. It has helped immensly as far as having regular bowel movements. However, I still look so so constipated! I am going for Colonic Irrigation in January (2006), but how can yoga help me clear my bowels and reduce this bubble belly? (I am very thin, so this pregnant look is strange. I am like a stick with a growth coming out of my belly!) I am 20 years old and this has not happened to me before. My fiber and water intake is perfect according to many health advisors and has been! Thanks for your time and guidance, Emily |

Hi Emily, “Little, pebble-size poops” are so rarely discussed. Thank you for bringing them out in the open. Our large intestines have NO idea what to do with these annoyances - they eventually spit them out one by one, and hope something more substantial comes along. These guys downright hurt when they’re trying to escape. They are such unwanted, yet perfectly designed creations. Just out of curiosity, did someone important in your life encourage you to “get your s___ together” a few months ago?” Words, thoughts and accompanying feelings are ingested into our bodies, too. Amazing how that works. From what you write, Emily, I get a sense of your mindfulness concerning your health. VERY good idea to conduct your own research and secure guidance from professional medical clinicians when considering colonic treatments. Prunes and/or Aloe Vera juice are always available. “Little, pebble-size poops” like these because they really want to soften, lengthen and take the edge off, too! A distended tummy may indicate gas and there are specific yoga postures – like Yoga Ball -- to help relieve that. I know because I’m in front of class all the time and get blasted frequently. This is a good thing. My over-all concern, however, is your description of your body being “like a stick…” Perhaps your internal workings are begging you to consider putting on a little more weight to soften the stick-likeness of your form -- if that is possible. Just a thought. You know your metabolism best, and I trust you honor it. My only recommendation is TOTAL encouragement to treat yourself to a well-rounded, regular yoga practice. Please consider the YLC’s one-week free trial. This will allow you to watch, listen to and participate in lots of different styles and tones – in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Explore and find the style/s of yoga that particularly nourishes you. Updates on progress are always WELCOMED. Let us know how everything continues coming out. Your words help others. (BTW: You write beautifully at your tender age! It would be a pleasure to hear from you again, Emily.) Namaste, Jeneveve Satya YLC Forum advisor |
