Whether you are brand new to yoga or have had many years of experience, the Yoga Learning Center can be a vital tool in your practice. We hope you find our online studio convenient, easy-to-use, and most of all invigorating to your body, mind and spirit. To help you get the most out of your membership here are a few suggestions.
1. Establish your environment by turning off the radio, television and even the telephone so that you can devote yourself fully to your practice. You may want to lower the lights or light a candle.
2. Yoga is best performed on an empty stomach, but not completely hungry. It is best to wait at least 1 to 2 hours time after you eat.
3. Take off your shoes and socks. Bare feet are essential especially for standing poses.
4. Wear comfortable clothes. Choose clothing that does not inhibit movement and stretching. Anything is fine as long as it is comfortable.
5. We recommend familiarizing yourself with the video or audio material before performing the practice. You can fast forward if you would like, using the controls on the screen. Your favorite practices can be added to your Favorites File for easy reference in the future. Be sure and choose a video with a practice level that is right for your experience.
6. Place your yoga mat approximately six feet from the screen (If you do not have a yoga mat you can purchase one of our high-quality mats in our online store).
7. The volume should be at a comfortable level.
8. We suggest viewing the practices at Full Screen. The full screen button is located on the control bar.
9. Do not skip the mediation or cool-down period at the end of the practice. This is necessary to relax and re-energize the body.
10. Most important of all, have fun with your practice! This is not a competition so remember not to push beyond your comfort level. Yoga will teach you to listen to your body. The smaller the steps you take the greater the rewards.
The real power of yoga is how it makes you feel on the inside. You will learn that Yoga is a discipline, but not an overly demanding one. Just one practice a week is all it takes to begin to feel the benefits, but you need to stay with it. You may find yoga to be a life-long companion, helping you remain balanced, centered and healthy.
If you have questions regarding your yoga practice, please contact Customer Service or post a question on the Forum.
