For thousands of years yogis have enjoyed and promoted the health benefits of tea. In fact, tea and yoga go together like feet and sticky mats.  But before you grab a bottle of Snapple for that post-savasana pick-me-up, you might be interested to know that new research shows that bottled teas rocka the chakra less than you think.

Research findings presented last week at an American Chemical Society meeting in Boston showed that bottled teas contain up to 15 times less antioxidants than a cup of home brewed green or black tea. So you would have to drink between 5 and 20 bottles of tea to get the 150 milligrams of polyphenols (antioxidants) found in just one cup of home brew. And when you consider the amount of sugar in those bottles, well it would take a lot of yoga to burn those calories.

So drop a tea bag in a cup of hot water and save yourself $15. Your body, your wallet and the environment will all thank you for it.
