The Yoga Learning Center - Family Owned and Operated!
By the end of 2002, Mia Taylor's Bay Area yoga classes had become
so popular she had to resort to long waiting lists, and became saddened
and frustrated by having to constantly turn students away. Mia's
husband Steve, the founder and director of a successful web development
company, came up with a suggestion: "Perhaps we could bring
your classes to the web, giving everyone a chance to participate."
Mia liked the idea, but thought that other instructors might benefit
from such a venture, and The Yoga Learning Center was born.
The couple approached Steve's mom, Ellen Taylor, the former CEO
of Embarcadero Technologies with 20 years of tech industry experience,
who agreed to come aboard as CFO and business plan advisor. Steve's
father, Donald Taylor, a renown photographer with countless publications,
was tapped to help with the images and photographs, and the Yoga
Learning Center became "The Family Business."
Our Mission
In his book Yoga, the Path to Holistic Health, BKS Iyengar
says, "Yoga teaches us that the goal of every individual's
life is to take the inner journey to the soul. Yoga offers both
the goal and the means to reach it." In essence, the Yoga Learning
Center hopes to be a significant tool to help anyone who wants to
take that journey. It is our wish to become a focal point on the
web for the entire yoga community, serving both teachers and practitioners
alike, sharing information and the multi-faceted benefits of yoga
for everyone.
The Yoga Learning Center was created in the spirit of love and
cooperation. We hope you find it useful in your journey, wherever
it may take you.
Namaste,
The Taylor Family
